Frequently asked questions

The questions we get most often, answered directly.

Is CurrencyIQ free to use?

Yes. Every converter and calculator is free, with no account and no usage limit. The site is funded by advertising.

How current are the exchange rates?

Rates are refreshed from our provider on a short cycle and each page shows the timestamp of the snapshot it used, so you can always see how fresh the number is.

Can I get the rate you show from my bank?

Usually not exactly. We show mid-market reference rates; banks, cards and exchange services add a margin and sometimes a fee on top.

Do you store what I type?

No. Calculations happen in your browser, and favourites and recent activity are saved only in your own browser's local storage.

Why do your results sometimes show more decimals?

Calculations run at high precision internally and are rounded only for display, using each currency's normal number of decimal places.

Do you have historical exchange rate charts?

Not yet. Historical rates are planned and will follow the same sourcing and disclosure standards as our live rates.

Which currencies do you support?

Fifty widely used world currencies, listed in the currency directory. Tell us if one you need is missing.

Is this financial advice?

No. CurrencyIQ provides information and calculation tools only. For decisions with real consequences, speak to a qualified professional.
